Finding Frankie!

Last week I worked with students from Anchorage Park School who all took part in our Kindness in the Community Activities. The Year 6 students worked in pairs to make flower bouquets and kindness cards, then choosing whether to give them to local seniors or local volunteers.
One pair of boys were very keen for their bouquet and card to be given to local lady called Frankie. They told me all about Frankie and how lovely she was and all the amazing things she does for her community.
However they couldn't tell me where she lived or her surname, I knew that she went to the local laundromat, and attended a local Church- not a lot to go on but I promised the boys I would try to find her!
Today I thought I would start my search for Frankie. The first place I thought I would try was the local laundromat- but no one was there! I walked two doors down and popped into the local superette and asked the lovely man if he happened to know a lady called Frankie.....to my surprise he said YES!!! I explained why I was looking for her and he was so helpful, phoning her so that I could explain why I was searching for her.
Frankie lived close by so I popped round with her flowers and card- she is such a beautiful person who really goes out of way to help others. She was so touched by the boys kindness, remarking that she didn't think anyone knew what she did, but was blown away by the fact that two young boys saw all the good she does and thought of her when they made the flowers and card.
After my pretty emotional visit to Frankie I went back to the school to let the boys know the difference they had made to Frankie by thinking of her. The whole class were so happy to hear that their gifts are making others happy. I hope this will encourage them all to continue to show kindness- one act of kindness can make a big difference.

I never thought I would find Frankie as I had so little to go on, but I am so pleased I did- it was an absolute pleasure to talk to her, she a real community hero!
