When we talk to the students about kindness we discuss the fact that kindness is contagious, it spreads from person to person. Your one act of kindness can have a ripple effect.
Last week the Year 6 students from Anchorage Park School found out this was true and not just something I said to them!I delivered the flowers and cards they made to a local private hospital called The Manor which is part of the Ambridge Rose Group. The residents were so happy with the gifts they wanted to thank the young students.
Last Friday I met Angela from the Ambridge Rose Group at the school so we could tell the children how the gifts had made the residents feel. The children were so pleased that their work and kindness had a difference to the older residents.
Angela had a surprise for the class, bringing with her a treat bag for everyone- showing the students that kindness spreads and now had come back to them. You can imagine the excitement in the room, a lot of very happy young people.

I chatted to Angela afterwards and she said that giving the students the treat bags and seeing their happy faces gave her so much joy- that is exactly what being kind does, it makes you feel happy!
Angela also wanted to give the teacher and the Youth Project NZ team a gift as well- we each received a beautiful bouquet of flowers, so generous and kind.

We really hope that showing the students what happens when you are kind will encourage them to continue to be kind to others.
Thank you to Angela and the Ambridge Rose Group for your kindness, we look forward to continuing to build on our community connection with you all.
