Our goal is connect young people with their community so why focus on kindness?
We believe that talking to young people about kindness and giving back to others helps them to connect to people and feel a sense of belonging themselves.
There are so many benefits to being kind not only to the people you are giving kindness to but to ourselves as well.
What is kindness? Kindness is defined by doing something towards yourself and others, motivated by genuine desire to make a positive difference.
Kindness and our mental health are deeply connected. Research has shown that kindness can positively change your brain.
Here comes the science.... Being kind boosts serotonin and dopamine, which are neurotransmitters in the brain that give you feelings of satisfaction and well-being, and cause the pleasure/reward centres in your brain to light up. Endorphins, which are your body's natural pain killer, can also be released.
Being kind can create a sense of belonging, reduce stress, brings a fresh perspective and deepens friendship. It can boost self-esteem and improve feelings of confidence and optimism.
By encouraging young people to be kind we hope we are not only helping people in the community but also the mental health of the students. The more you do for others, the more you do for yourself.

Our Kindness in the Community Activities are all completely free for Primary Schools and we bring everything needed to complete the activity.
We are hoping by teaching the young students about being kind it will encourage them to continue to want to give back to their community and hopefully volunteer in the future and make more community connections.
